Big new function centre for Sunshine Coast

QUEENSLAND'S Sunshine Coast, a one hour drive north of Brisbane may soon rival the latter capital city and its southern counterpart, the Gold Coast as a premier destination for corporate events and touring entertainment acts when the Sunshine Coast Function Centre in Caloundra opens its doors in June.
A number of nationally recognised names in Australia are already booked to take the stage for its opening.
As the largest standalone venue on the Sunshine Coast, the Function Centre is currently undergoing a $17-$18million development that will lend itself to a range of uses including product launches, concerts, charity galas, meetings and special occasions.
According to a spokesperson for the complex, the Function Centre can be opened up to its full capacity of 1,200 people standing or 450-500 for seated functions. Both set ups can be used for concerts and sporting events ranging from big boxing matches, Melbourne Cup, opera, classical, rock or electro.
Alternatively, the room can be broken in half to host two functions of 240 people and 250 people simultaneously, or split into six smaller function rooms that again, due to the acoustics and carefully positioned catering areas, can be run at the same time.
The colour scheme for the venue has also been carefully chosen in order to best adapt to various themed events and customers will be able to work with our specialist theming company to create the right ambience.
The Sunshine Coast Function Centre is adjoined to the Caloundra RSL (which I have frequented quite a few times on visits to the Sunshine Coast - a great club!) and will feature two bars for pre and post-event drinks.
In addition, the Centre is working closely with Caloundra Tourism and local operators to develop a range of accommodation packages to cater for interstate and international guests, and travelling performing artists.
The Sunshine Coast Function Centre will open its doors in June but bookings and enquiries can be made now by contacting Lloyd Mills on +61 7 54911544 or email lloydm@caloundrarsl.com.au
