Just a couple of hours north of Rome, on the Italian west coast lies the charming town of Porto Ercole which is popular with Romans and tourists alike thanks to its easy-going lifestyle and beautiful surroundings. I enjoyed a stopover in this town whilst on a Seadream II Mediterranean cruise several years ago.
