Almost one third of Aussies aged 18-34 also admitted to deliberately cutting out time to relax on holiday, preferring to cram in as many activities and stopovers as possible just to say they’ve ‘been there – done that’, resulting in them losing their ‘holiday mojo’ quicker than any other age group in Australia.
Kate James, life coach and Director of Total Balance Group, describes ‘holiday mojo’ as the feeling of inner calm and vitality you experience when you return from a rewarding holiday.
“Younger Australians would be on the right track to enjoying a lasting ‘holiday mojo’ if they took some time for personal reflection and got in touch with nature, through experiences like trekking on the Larapinta Trail, canoeing through the Katherine Gorge or finding hidden waterfalls in Kakadu. It’s important for people to try something different from their day to day lives, without trying to cram too much in during their holiday.” Kate added.
The NT Minister for Tourism, Kon Vatskalis says now more than ever Australian travellers are looking for a holiday experience that lasts longer and provides them with a break from the ordinary.
“Australians have identified the Northern Territory as being the most inspirational, spiritual, life changing, unique and adventurous holiday destination in Australia.
“The Territory is an ideal destination to totally switch off, re-energise and feel reconnected. Our World Heritage-listed national parks, famous natural icons and ancient Aboriginal culture offer the perfect experience for Australians wanting to hold on to their ‘holiday mojo’,” says Minister Vatskalis.
