
It really has nothing to do with travel or tourism, but, amidst all the current Jackson-mania, I couldn't resist posting the above memory of my one and only brush with a Jackson, namely Michael's brother Jermaine. The setting was a hotel pool area in downtown Brisbane (Australia) during the year Brisbane staged the Commonwealth Games (1982), that's why Jermaine was wearing a tee-shirt promoting the games. When I asked him about the Games, he had never heard of them...he obviously hadn't read his shirt yet! The photo shows a much younger me (as well as an unidentified journo from the Queensland Times newspaper in Ipswich) interviewing Jermaine upon the release of a then new album. I was writing a regular music column at the time for a local newspaper.
